Tales of Mommyhood Camping Adventure - Part 3

Tales of Mommyhood Camping Adventure - Part 2

When we woke in the morning, we did the usual morning routine. Then Mr. K and I went on a short hike (we had started one the night before, but we did not finish the trail, and we both wanted to). It was so peaceful.
what I look like when I wake up after such little sleep

Back at camp, breakfast preparations were underway. Pancakes, bacon and fruit.  While this was happening, we took down our tent and packed up the car. I cannot recommend the pop up tents enough - seriously. 10 minutes, and that included the time it took me to fight with the thing to get it zipped up in the bag (the longest part of take down). Once we were packed up, we sat on a bench looking out at the lake.  We had breakfast with friends, and when breakfast was over, we cleaned our dishes and then the 2 of us found our way down to the beach. It's not a HUGE area, but it is lovely.

He wanted "Jewel" to come with us while we explored

I had a commitment in the afternoon to be home for, so when we finished our walk to the beach, we went back to camp and said our goodbyes.
Mr. K brought the bags to the car....he thought this would be funny!

I am so happy that I said yes to this adventure. It was really nice to be able to spend some time with Mr. K (even though it wasn't JUST the 2 of us, we had lots of time to be together). I got to experience something that he truly enjoys, and he was able to show off some of his skills to me.

I would definitely go camping again, as long as their are flush toilets. Not sure I could handle a full week, but I could probably do 2-3 nights if we were with friends or in a group like this again.

My takeaways:
  • having an easy tent make things go smoothly
  • double checking that you have packed everything you need (camping with scouts is wonderful, they send a full kit list home the week before)
  • earplugs are a must (for me at least) to help get to sleep at night
  • bug spray, sunscreen and water (Even though the site we were at had potable water, the taste was very different than what we are used to - almost chlorine like - and we did not like it. I will make sure to bring a jug to refill from next time)
If you have any tips to help with my next camping trip, please leave them in the comments!
