Beach Day!

Summer is almost over, and with soccer taking up so much of our time in July and early August, I wanted to make sure we made the most of the last 2 weeks of summer. We headed to Brockville at the beginning of last week, and I planned a beach day with some friends for later in the week.

Mr. K and I made a very quick stop at this beach on the way home from an appointment last September, and when Mr. J found out he wanted me to take him there as well. Time was running out, so I am glad that we made it.

It's about a 40 minute drive for us to get there. There are washrooms onsite, a canteen is open in the afternoon, a lovely sandy beach with picnic tables, a play structure and swings. The water is clean (they post the test results online and in the washroom areas for visitors to see). It's a lovely spot to spend some time.

We arrived around 10am, and our friends around 1030. The kids waded in the water, built dams in the sand, and played on the play structure as well. We all brought food and the kids had quite the assortment of items to choose from.  When we left (around 2pm), we took the back way home and stopped for ice cream in Pakenham,

Hard to believe that this is the first actual beach day we have had. We generally spend 1 day at my aunt and uncles cottage every year, but playing on the beach is just a part of it, not the whole reason  for being there.

It was a lot of fun, and I am hoping to find some other fun beaches to visit next year. If you are in the Ottawa area, what's your favourite beach?
