cookies and milk all set for Santa, and of course Carrots for the Reindeer |
When we are done, everyone sits around chatting and having a great time. We then get the kids in their pj's, head home and leave out milk and cookies for Santa. Along with that, we read T'was the Night Before Christmas, and then we leave the book with our milk and cookies for Santa to sign (he leaves a special message every year)
(this was a tradition started by my parents - every year my dad read us the story before bed, and Santa had written a message when he stopped by - we were always so excited to read what he wrote)
Once the kids are settled in bed, hubby and I curl up on the couch and watch A Christmas Carol, and right before bed we get all the other important stuff ready to go for morning.
When I was growing up and when my kids were growing up the day was pretty much a normal day and then we'd bathe the kids, get them into their jammies, ice cookies, toast almonds and read The Night Before Christmas!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up one of the kids always read Twas the Night before Christmas and we always opened Christmas gifts from family members on Christmas Eve. Going to midnight mass was also one of our family traditions.
