The Things Kids Say

halloween pictures
My dad died when I was a teenager. He had a heart attack.  Since he was gone long before my kids came along, they know of Papa Rick, but have never met him.  He is often talked about, they come to his grave with me and they know that he died "because his heart didn't work anymore".  We have always refrained from telling them someone died because they were old or sick - and try our hardest to tell them the truth.

Last week, Mr. K spent some time with my mom.  That night, when I was putting him to bed he was talking about Papa Rick, and how he was dead. We talked about how it made me sad, and he was sad too.  Then, he told me he had to go to the basement, to Daddy's workshop. He had to get a screw driver, and he was going to fix Papa Rick's heart so he wouldn't be dead anymore.

It was the most adorable thing - he was certain that daddy's screwdriver could fix it - because of course, if something breaks in the house the first thing hubby does is try and fix it.

What cute things have your kids said?

  2. Wow... that is really cute! Wendy's Dad dies when my eldest was 7 months old. The last picture taken of him was him talking to her while she sat in her high chair in their kitchen. Although she was way too young to remember, we often see her looking at the picture when she is at Grandma's house.

  3. Along the fix it line - It was raining a lot one week, and my oldest was about 3 or 4, and he went to his Daddy, and said "Daddy I am mad! The Sun is broken, and you need to fix it!!!" and stormed off. I said yeah Daddy what up with that ???

  4. When children say things it usually comes from the heart, it can bring a smile to your face or a tear to your eye, times like these is why you are a parent

  6. Oh my goodness, that was sad and cute all at the same time.
My kids say some funny things too, wish I would remember to write it down.
My little guy was acting up at preschool one day and the teacher asked him if he was a monkey, and to show her his tail...to which he responded that no he wasn't a monkey and no he didn't have a tail...insert pause...and then he states "but I do have a penis!"... Oh goodness...

  7. Recently DD and I went to Walmart, and treated ourselves to McDonald's for lunch, partly so we could get the Coca Cola Collector glasses. DD really wanted purple, and a staff member was kind enough to go to the back and dig one out for her and bring it to us in the dining room. DD stated enthusiastically, "this is the best day of my WHOLE life!'. I asked, 'even better then the day you were born?', she looked at me thoughtfully and said 'that was a good day too but I was sad that I hurt your vagina'.
