Today, I needed to give myself a time out....the past few weeks have been pretty stressful in terms of getting a certain project done. The only time I really have to work on it is when the kids go to bed, so I have been pretty much spending from 7-11pm most nights trying to get this finished.
Needless to say, I am exhausted and cranky. When Julien got home from school today, Kyle was napping and we decided to make a cake/cupcakes. I had it all ready so all he needed to do was throw everything in the mixer and turn it on. As soon as that was done, I sent him upstairs so I could continue my work while Kyle napped. So what should have been fun times baking with mommy turned into a really quick get it done and move on sort of thing....
When K got up, he was cranky...Julien was cranky because I had left him on his own, and I was cranky. It didn't make for a good afternoon. I ended up snapping on the kids so often, that finally I told Julien to go to his room and play for a little while; I put kyle in his high chair with a snack and I sat and did nothing for a few minutes.
I hate that I have been so short with the boys (Jules mostly) and really hope that once all this work is behind me things will be better.
Aww, you know what, it happens to all of us every once in a while, it sucks, but your kiddos know you love them. Big hugs to you girly!!

ReplyDeleteI think its good to take time out for yourself once in awhile. I'm having one of those weeks tand I am feeling so much anxiety. I need to take your lead and give myself a time out too!!
ReplyDeleteI know that stress you are talking about. I hate when I find myself angry and yelling at the kids when they are just being kids. Hope today is better.

ReplyDeleteIt WILL get better. The Mommy guilt is always the worst... and it's ALWAYS there. You have a lot on your plate and a time out was necessary! WE ALL DO IT. Anyone that pretends that they HAVEN'T is lieing.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a stressful week for sure. I'm always extra cranky after attending a funeral too so I'm sure that is playing a role. Things will get better, sometimes a timeout is exactly what we need to get back on track!
ReplyDeleteWe aren't perfect and it's alright to admit you're having a bad moment/day..... just make sure you tell your kids that you're sorry if you do anything like yell or become unreasonable...
