Tonka Tiny Rescue Response Station #GG2017

I don't know about your little ones, but when my 2 boys were small, they were obsessed with vehicles. They loved cars, trucks, construction vehicles and just about anything with wheels.  They had (still have, but not played with often) a giant bin of cars and 2 or 3 car play mats.  They always loved the small ones to.

Tonka has come out with Tonka Tiny's - sure to be a hit with your little car lover! They are small, so are not intended for super wee ones, definitely a toy that is for 3 years old and over. The Rescue Response Station features 3 levels, ramps and can also store 8 of the Tiny vehicles on level 1!

Enter To Win Cars 3 Just In Time For Christmas

We all know and love the gang found in Radiator Springs, and they are back for another film! Cars 3 was released on Blu ray/DVD November 7th.

My family has been a fan since we first saw the original movie, and that hasn't stopped. We have had so many Lightning McQueen and Mater toys, clothing and pillows it was a bit of an obsession for a while.

This new film has some new additions to the cars line up - including Jackson Storm and Cruz Ramirez.
"Disney and Pixar present CARS 3, a fast-paced new tale of Lightning McQueen, his classic CARS friends and a new spirited trainer Cruz Ramirez! Lighting finds himself pushed out of racing by a new generation of faster and younger cars and goes on a journey to discover where he belongs in this new type of high-octane competition."
If you have a Cars fan in your life, this would be a great item to add under the tree this Christmas.

GIVEAWAY

For your chance to WIN a copy of Cars 3 on Blu-Ray +DVD, use the form below. This giveaway is open to Canadian residents only, and will end on November 28th, 2017 at 1159pm EST. Good luck! **delivery before Christmas cannot be guaranteed**

Christmas Tree Mouse Ornament

Thinking about Christmas always makes me feel crafty, even though I am not a super crafty person. I like to make new Christmas tree ornaments with the kids, and it's always nice when they are things I have on hand in the house anyways - since most of the time it is a spur of the moment idea. These cute wine cork mice are perfect to add to the tree!

I also think that home made gifts from children are perfect for grandparents, aunts, uncles and God-parents - which is why I am inlcuding this in the 2017 Gift Guide!

Wine Cork Mouse Ornament

Materials:

  • Wine corks
  • Scissors
  • Rhinestones
  • Ribbon
  • Small jingle bell
  • Green sparkly pipe cleaner
  • Knife
  • Low temperature hot glue gun

Instructions:
  1. Begin by slicing off two thin circles from one wine cork, these will be the mouse’s ears.
  2. Hot glue the small circle slices to the top of the back of another wine cork, one off to each side.
  3. Glue two rhinestone eyes onto the front of the wine cork that you just glued the ears to, and another rhinestone for the nose.
  4. Twist a sparkly green pipe cleaner into a spiral shape.
  5. Attach the green spiral pipe cleaner to the back of the wine cork to serve as the tail for your mouse.
  6. Cut a small piece of ribbon and thread it through a small jingle bell. Tie the ribbon around the cork just under the nose of the mouse.
  7. Glue a small loop of twine to the back of the wine cork in between the ears, this will be the hanger for your mouse ornament.

Enchanted Forest Observation Puzzle

A few months ago I purchased a puzzle for us to do as a family. It was a 1000 piece puzzle, and I quickly realized it was a little too much to start off with.  This 100 piece Enchanted Forest puzzle by Djeco is much better suited.

Puzzles are a great exercise for developing fine motor skills, problem solving, and cognitive skills. 100 pieces is small enough that it should hold their attention, but large enough to challenge them.  Once the puzzle is complete, you need to find the items in it.

If you have a family to buy for, consider gifting a puzzle - they can spend time together completing it!

Playmobil Advent Calendars

As we get closer to the Christmas season, families often have countdowns going. Some use their normal calendar, others use the chocolate advent calendars that can be purchased and some have their own advent traditions.

Growing up, our family always had the chocolate advent calendars that are abundant in stores at the time of year.

When my kids were small, we also used the chocolate ones, but my kids didn't understand the fact that you only eat one, and would often sneak open many windows eating  3 or more chocolates at once.

When I first saw the Playmobil advent calendars, I thought they were a great idea. Something fun for them to open and play with, without adding in sugar to their day.

This year, Mr. K will have the Playmobil Santa's Workshop advent calendar and Mr. J will have the NHL Rivalry on the Pond advent calendar.

How do you celebrate advent with your children?
