Tales of Mommyhood Camping Adventure - Part 2

READ: Tales of Mommyhoods Camping Adventure - Part 1

Once the tent was set up, we were able to relax and enjoy the afternoon. We spent some time looking at the water, chatting with the other campers, and Mr. K enjoyed spending some time whittling a stick (he earned his knife permit a few weeks ago, and wanted to put it to the test). Unfortunately, one of the other campers had a minor incident and ended up needing a few stitches :(

caterpillars everywhere

Mr. K had the chance to practice fire building using flint and steel. It took him a little while to get it going (he had lots of sparks, just nothing catching) but with help from one of the scouters he managed to get a little flame.

While Mr. K worked on a building a shelter (it wasn't for use, but to practice) while I helped prep dinner. Make your own pizza rolls cooked over the campfire. A few of us were chopping veggies and getting the work station set.  Once we had our items ready, we took it to one of the 2 campfires and a scouter helped us cook.

After dinner Mr. K and I went on a small hike along one of the trails, and then spent some quiet time together playing UNO in our tent.  We then went to enjoy sitting at the campfire, while some of the beavers and cubs (and scouters) performed songs or skits. Once that was done, it was s'more time! I think that is the best part of any campfire.

After our s'mores we got ourselves ready for bed.  Mr. K was out within a few minutes; me, unfortunately, was not so lucky.  There were so many noises (nothing scary, just lots of sounds), that it was around 3am when I finally fell asleep. Note to self: bring earplugs next time.

  2. Camping adventures are fun but also can be quite tiring for adults.
