I think I am in the minority when it comes to my love of an eclectic Christmas tree. I really enjoy when I see a mish-mash of different ornaments. I can remember making ornaments for my mom, and some of them are STILL hung on her tree each year.

For our Christmas tree, as we decorate every year I take great pleasure in remembering who gave me the ornament and why, or the reason I purchased it. I also love seeing the kids ornaments they made when they were little as well. It's kind of like a walk down memory lane.

Here is a cute idea for an ornament to make with the kids!

Bear Wood Slice Christmas Ornaments

Supplies needed:

  • Wood Slices
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Twine
  • Dark Brown, Light Brown, Pink and Black Craft Foam
  • White Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Black & White Paint Marker

Instructions:
  • Paint the wood slice dark brown. 1-2 coats. Allow to dry completely.
  • Cut a muzzle from light brown felt. Refer to the photo. Glue the muzzle onto the wood slice.
  • Cut an oval circle (nose) from black felt. Glue the nose on top of the light brown muzzle using the Scissors.
  • Use a black paint marker to draw on eyes.
  • Cut small half circles from dark brown felt. Cut smaller half circles from pink felt. Glue the pieces together. Put a dab of glue on the middle of the felt half circles and pinch together.
  • Glue the ears on top of the wood slice.
  • Use a white paint marker to add detail to the eyes.
  • Glue twine onto the back for hanging on a Christmas tree.Your ornaments are now ready to hang on the tree.
