The End of Christmas Break 2017/2018

I have to admit, that I was kind of dreading having the kids home for Christmas break this year. The two of them really don't get along, and while I used to love having them home with me, the last year or so has been very difficult with that. The constant fighting (and they have always fought, but as they get older it is worse) had me really not looking forward to it.

Now that we are pretty much done, I have to say it was pretty fun. My niece spent quite a bit of time with us, she had 1 sleepover at our place, and Mr. J went to their house for a night as well. I took them to a movie, they played video games, watched you tube, did some baking, and we played a LOT of board games.  Mr. K had a friend over to play one day, and also spent time at another friends house. They did a lot of sledding (Mr. K the most), and we watched some world junior hockey as well.

Mr. K really needed the downtime from school. There has been a lot going on with him over the last 8 months or so, and this break really, really helped. I hadn't realized just how much stress school was causing him (he loves his teachers, and almost always wants to go, but now seeing the difference with him home, I can see it).

I will say that I am looking forward to the routine that school days bring. I want to do a deep clean of my family room, and that is much easier when I am alone to do. The kids will also enjoy having a break from each other during the day.

I have been very good at staying on top of the laundry, and other than restocking some fruits and vegetables, I haven't bought anything to clutter up the house :) Happy that my goals are pretty much in check, even if it's only been one week.

  1. Sounds like you and the kids had a great break, I always dreaded my girls being home together as well, they fought so much and couldn't even be in the same room together, and just those two fighting would cause me lots of stress.
