If you are a regular Tales of Mommyhood follower, then you are likely aware how much I dislike cleaning. I have absolutely no motivation to clean (unless we are having company) and will happily do just about anything else to procrastinate.
A friend of mine was hosting a Spring Cleaning Challenge on facebook, so I decided to join in and give it a shot. I though if I had a group to be accountable to, it would help.
I was right. I have been on a cleaning streak since joining the challenge. It started off with doing a deep clean of the bathrooms (one task each day for a few days) then the laundry room, and now working on the kitchen (again, 1 task/ day).
Breaking it down into small chunks has made such a difference. Since I can happily put cleaning off, it always end up being a big job for me. I need to get into the habit of doing a few small tasks daily, instead of becoming overwhelmed with the entire house needing top to bottom clean.

Also, spring weather has finally found us and I have been able to turn off the heat in the house! Not really spring cleaning related at all, but it makes me happy.
Happy spring!
I can't wait for the weather to warn enough to open some windows and start cleaning....
ReplyDeleteI love having the windows open and getting fresh air in the house!
DeleteI split up spring cleaning over a few days. Lots of work but definitely woth it. A few sunny dry days too so we can finally air out the house.
ReplyDeleteSo much easier to do things bit by bit
DeleteLooking forward to getting the windows cleaned up!
ReplyDeleteI only did the kitchen one, still need to do the rest
DeleteI need to get the mud room organized!
ReplyDeleteI'm always excited when I can turn the heat off too! It isn't warm enough here yet, but soon!
