Funny Things Kids Say

The other day, the kids were playing on the giant snow hill by the bus stop (a dumping area for the plows). It's a favourite activity every winter.  They have done this many times, but on this particular morning Mr. J was being a pill and trying to intimidate his brother and block him from climbing.
I yelled up to him to "stop intimidating his brother" and he moved away to another area.  A few minutes go by, and I hear Mr. K shout "mommy told you to STOP trying to eliminate me". He obviously misheard what I had said, but it was just so funny that he would use the word eliminate, since as an older brother, Mr. J has been hoping for that since day 1.

This situation got me thinking, and I decided to poll some of my fellow bloggers and see if their kids had said anything really funny. Keep reading to see what they shared with me.
Fariha from Canadian Mom Eh has a few:

"Mommy that is terrible customing!" (Customer service)

"Clementimes" (clementines)

"Moody featers" (movie theatres)

Kat from Mommy Kat and Kids said that when her son was really young, he would say "sleeve me up mommy" when he wanted his sleeves rolled up.

Merry from Merry About Town said that her son used to say "Angent Diptions" instead of "Ancient Egyptians"; he also used to always say "mine" instead of "my".

Kim from Tales of a Ranting Ginger shared a story about her daughter. They were heading into the city to do some errands, and she asked her dad what they were doing. He said he had to pick up some prints. She then said "A prince to marry me?"

Her son was 3 or 4 and called his sister a Drivers License. He thought since grown ups had them and swear words were something grownups said, it was a bad word.

Shayna from Mommy Outside The Box shared a story. This one isn't funny in a comical sense, more just things that come out of kids mouths. When they were leaving a store one day, her daughter, 3 at the time, sitting in the shopping cart and she yelled "you're not my parents".

Then, at 4.5 they had this conversation:

"Mommy tell a me story about God.
Ok I'll tell you the story about Daniel and the Lions Den.
Is that Daniel the vegetable or the real Daniel?
Thanks Veggie Tales."

Paula from Thrifty Momma's Tips shared a story about her nephew. When he was young, they were flying and the pilot came over the speaker saying "This is your pilot, we are passing over...." and her nephew yelled out "PIRATE? There is a pirate flying the plane?"

Tammy from Momma Bears Haven said that her daughter called Netflix "neckflix" and You Tube "youtoo"; she also calls granola bars "cranola".

Ashley from Forgetful Momma had her son walk up and ask her for "polly porn" for his lips....it took her a little bit to process that he was asking for Polysporin.

Tiffany from Naturally Cracked said that her son asked her "if she knew every girl had an agenda" (meaning vagina)

Lisa from Fab Frugal Mama said that the song "sorry" by Justin Bieber was playing in the car one day. She was starting to think she shouldn't be playing it with the kids around, and they started singing along to the chorus, saying "is it too late now to say sorry? Cause I am missing more than just your PARTY now"

Casey from caseypalmer.com shared that his son calls cucumbers "CumberCues"

I had a good laugh while reading these, and hope they bring a smile to your face.  If you have any funny stories, please feel free to leave them in the comments!

  4. Great post! As a mom of three I think I have a handful of stories of things my kids said. The BEST was at the dinner table (my two girls and I, they were probably 6 and 3 years old at the time) Abby my oldest said "Mom where do babies come from" and before I could swallow my food and respond my youngest at the time Hailee said "Oh Abby don't you know that babies come from cowboys" ... I nearly choked on my food but laughed so hard I cried!
