Grass Stains Make Me Happy

Grass stains make me happy.  It may seem like an odd statement to make, but it's true.  When my kids are outside playing soccer, climbing trees, riding bikes and skateboards or making up games about sharks - I love to see it.  Those all come with tumbles and rolls on the grass, but it's part of childhood.

I am so happy that they have the freedom to roam around outside exploring the environment they live in.  They have grass to play on, paths and trees to explore. Friends to find and lots of fun to be had.

It is wonderful.

When my kids come inside filthy and full of grass stains, I am so happy that they get to experience this wonderful part of childhood. Even if it means more laundry work for me,  it makes my heart swell.

So, yep - grass stains make me happy.

  2. I agree wholeheartedly with you. I am just happy to see my kids outside enjoying themselves. I can deal with the clothing aftereffects as long as there was fun involved!

    1. Yes - when we were kids the neighbourhood kids always played together, whether or not they were friends. Now, it doesn't seem to be like that as much

  7. So true, I think a lot of kids are not getting enough grass stains & dirt on them these days. Grass stains & dirty clothes are an important part of childhood! (Judy Cowan)

  10. I consider myself one of the lucky ones, we played outside, in the fields, on the street all with the neighbourhood kids, all sizes and ages played happily together. We'd go out the door in the morning and not be back until we were really, really hungry. These days it's much more difficult for kids, there are also so many more distractions that not all of them want to play with friends/make friends.

  13. Whenever I get my son who has special needs ,off the school bus his pants are covered in dirt, playground dust & grass stains. At first I gasp (as that's definitely not how he looked when I sent him in the morning!) but then I know he must've had the most fun day!
