Travelling To The Florida Keys

Florida is pretty much the only travel destination I have been to.  I stayed in Kissimmee for 2 weeks in high school, spending time at some of the theme parks in the area and hanging out by the hotel pool.  Other than that, I have only been to Disney (3 trips).  I have often thought about visiting the Florida Keys (ever since hearing the Beach Boys song "Kokomo" when I was a little girl) - I just haven't made that happen yet.

My friend Sandy from Canadian Blog House had a chance to visit earlier this year, and it made me want to go even more.

When many Canadians think of a winter vacation in Florida, they think of spending a week with Mickey Mouse and the gang in the Orlando area, lying on the white sand beaches of the Florida Gulf Coast, or hanging out on the chic east coast shores of Miami-Fort Lauderdale.

As someone who had the chance to visit a few of these east, central, and west coast Florida destinations in the 1980’s and 90’s, my recent adventure into the Florida Keys left me asking myself why it took me so long to explore this “other” Florida.  Head over to Canadian Blog House to finish reading her article
