How Do You Cook Your Bacon?

how to bake your baconI love bacon, but always hated cooking it.  Using a frying pan always resulted in me getting splashed with hot grease, so it wasn't something I looked forward to making.

I then read about cooking bacon in the oven and decided to give it a try. It's a great way to get the bacon more evenly cooked, and you also can walk away and do other things while it is cooking, since it is in the oven, and not on the stove.

-Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or tin foil
-Place the bacon side by side across the sheet (don't  overlap or it won't cook properly)
-Place on middle oven rack at 400 degrees and bake  for approximately 25 minutes (if you don't like crispy  bacon, check it sooner)
-Remove from baking sheet and drain on paper towels

  1. I have cooked mine both ways. The only thing I do not like about cooking it in the oven is that the oven get's quite dirty from the grease.

    1. I hope you like it! I find it much easier, and ends up taking about the same time to cook the whole package

  3. I've never cooked bacon in the oven before but may try it next time! The only day we have bacon though is Christmas morning, so I'll have to wait a while! lol

  4. I learned to cook my bacon in the oven at camp! It helps keep the smell minimal...when your cooking for lots of people it's an easy and quick way to make it.
I've also been told to put it in the oven and then turn the oven on, don't wait for the oven to heat up.

    1. hmm, I still find it smells my house up the same as before, but definitely convenient. I tried not pre-heating the oven, but I like my bacon crispy (think ALMOST burnt) and found it didn't get crispy enough without the initial heat

  7. I always cook it in a frying pan. Used to do the microwave thing but haven't for years.

  8. I prefer baking my bacon. It doesn't shrink as much, less mess, and tastes better.
