The Great Canadian Blog Bash is BACK! #tgcbb

The Great Canadian Blog Bash


It's here! It's here! The Great Canadian Blog Bash (#TGCBB) is back for a third year!  This is my 2nd time participating in this awesome event.   #TGCBB will run from June 27th until July 11th. There will be lots of blog hopping to be done and a lot of prizes (the hosting blogs have giveaways running and the participating blogs may have some too! You can check out my giveaway HERE)

#TGCBB is set up in time for Canada Day. It is a way to celebrate Canada, being Canadian and our heritage!  Did you know that there are a lot of famous Canadians?



- Bryan Adams
- Barenaked Ladies
- Alanis Morisette (she was the first artist I saw in concert with my friends!)
- Howie Mandel (one of my hubby's favorite comedians - we saw him live a few years ago)
- James Naismith (inventor of Basketball)
- Lucy Maud Montgomery (author of Anne of Green Gables, one of my favorite stories/movies)
- Kiefer Sutherland

Canada is also known for many inventions:

- Insulin
- The Telephone
- The light bulb
- Pacemaker
- Zipper
- Canadarm
- goalie mask
- pablum

To celebrate Canada Day, we host an annual bbq with our friends; the kids can play in the backyard and we serve bbq hot dogs and hamburgers as well as sides and dessert.  It's a great time to catch up with our friends (time moves quickly and we often don't get together)

We don't do fireworks ourselves, but many in our neighbourhood DO so there is always something to see! I am lucky, so far neither of my boys have been scared of fireworks (and even luckier, the ones late at night do not wake them up!!!!)

    We'll be celebrating Canada Day by enjoying some of the festivities on Parliament Hill...and by watching the fantastic fireworks show at night. I love living in Canada! We live in the best country in the world! We are free, we have a beautiful and diverse country AND I happen to think Canadians are a pretty awesome group of people! Btw..had no idea pablum was invented in Canada...cool!

    Everything about being Canadian makes me proud. Our health care system, our green open spaces, our hockey, our tim horton's, everything. I would never live anywhere else.

    yup, I've got one of the kids that are scared of fireworks! all loud noise really with his sensitive ears :(
    I always seem to forget that Howie Mandel is Canadian, he seems more American to me, must be all those years of living there lol

    Lovely post. A BBQ during the Canada Day weekend sounds like the perfect thing to do, a nice tradition you have going there. We don't really have plans, been a busy couple of weeks and I think we will just be happy to slow down and relax for a few days. There are a few things going on around town that we might check out.     I am proud to be a Canadian because of many things. we have laws that protect animals. our health system is great. we have lots of green grass and trees. there are many great reasons to live in canada

    I am proud being Canadian for many reasons: the health care, the multiculturalis, the food, the natural beauty, the scientific inventions, the amazing women like Montgomery and Catherine Parr Trail.

    I will be attending the Canada Day Parade and having a bbq.

    My father fought for Canada, as did my grandfather. I'm very proud to be Canadian and am grateful for what my dad and grandfather fought for, our freedom.

    I am proud to be canadian when I see our military in the world (I was in the military and my husband is in the military and where ever we go most of time if people learned that we are canadian they thanks us for our job and for our help :)

    I am proud to be a Canadian because of our healthcare system. I can't even imagine being an American without health coverage. Very scary. I have a couple of diseases and have to make frequent trips to specialists. It makes me very proud that free health care is available to Canadians!

    I work in natural resources in Northern Ontario. Every time I go to work, I am reminded of how there is no place in the world I would rather be. This country is just so beautiful, and there is so much for me to explore without even leaving my own district of my own province.

    Finally, truly Canadian Sites. I have been entranced lately checking out Blogs, reviews and contests etc. Seems that I was forever surrounded by South of the border teasing and let downs from constantly being led to the words: U.S. only! Feels like I hit the jackpot last night as I came across a Strictly Canadian Site, which led me to another and another and then here. This is great, no more wondering and searching the fine print to see if my efforts are worthwhile! Kristi B.

    I am proud to be Canadian because I was born in a beautiful place. We can swim in the ocean and see beautiful mountains at the same time. Or if Oceans dont suit our fancy there is an abundance of lakes and rivers to choose from. We have great drinking water; amazing places to hike. And above all I hear Canadians are the nicest by far :)

    I am in love with being a Canadian. Being from Southern Alberta and watching neighbors homes being washed away, being damaged by the floods, I immediately packed the kids up in the van with a friend and we took food, and any kind of odds and ends that we could raid from our garages such as masks, gloves, paper towels, whatever we could find. We drove almost 2 hours, what would have taken 30 mins usually, every road was flooded! We went into the flooded neighborhoods that were starting their clean up and we unloaded at an outside neighborhood station set up for people to get what they need. Mostly food and water. An lady from England, living in Canada for only a couple of years was amazed that we would do such a thing. My reply to her was, I would have accepted nothing less, of course I am going to help. That gratefulness that I received from her made me so proud to be Canadian.

    I am proud to be Canadian because of our equality and same-sex rights. We live in a country where my wife & I were allowed to be legally married and in turn, our daughter will have it easier having two moms (and a dad). Canada Rocks!!!
