Are your kids afraid of monsters? were you afraid of monsters as a child? I was - my closet door had to be closed, and my light on until I was in my early teens. Even as an adult, I need to have my closet door closed, and my feet have to be under the blanket - silly, yes, I know.
Mom to 3, Sharon Cramer is the author/illustrator of
Marlow and the Monster. The book is about a little boy with a monster in his room, and of course his parents don't believe him. The monster is very colourful (the rest of the book is illustrated in black/white) and more of a pest than scary; he is kind of silly looking.
My 5 year old was a little apprehensive about the book based on the title, but after we started reading it he realized that it wasn't scary at all...and he LOVED that the monster was full of colour. If you have a little one that is worried about monsters under the bed or in the closet, I suggest you grab a copy of the book and have a read through it with them!
