Today is the last day of school for my son.....while most kids are happy to have the summer off, he is sad. He told me yesterday he is going to miss his teachers a lot, and that he wishes he could go to school all summer.
To get him somewhat excited about summer holidays, we created a summer fun list. We sat down, and made a list of things we want to be sure to do this summer (I got the idea from my friend over at Learning Titus 2). A few of his ideas: go to dairy queen; go on a bike ride in the rain; have a sleepover at his grandparents house and go mini putting. There are others, but those were the ones he came up with on his own.
What will you do with your kids this summer?
That is a great idea to make a list of fun things to do! I think children really do enjoy the routine of school and for little guys, the "unknown" summer doesn't look as appealing at first glance as school. That is so cute that he is sad.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter started crying last night b/c she said she didn't want grade 1 to end. That she would miss her teacher.
he has since changed his mind - this morning he told me he is super happy that he gets to be home with me all summer!
Deletelast day of Sk for us yesterday too, I love the idea of a summer bucketlist, we have already had an amazing summer and school just got out! lol we took our holidays a little early!
ReplyDeleteyes, I was following along with your updates - it does sound like a great way to start summer
DeleteThe Summer BucketList idea is fabulous! Love it! Hope you guys have a great Summer! Have fun! xo
ReplyDeleteI can't take credit for it - but thanks!

ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by - hope you have a great summer too!
DeleteWe too made a summer bucket list thanks to Lisa. Hoping to have lots of fun with it!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy when I saw her post a few weeks ago - I knew immediately it was something we had to do
Deletemy kids go until tomorrow, then I'll be happy they're home for the summer. I cried today, emma had her grade 6 grad and tonight is Q's grade 8 grad. JK seems so long ago suddenly!
ReplyDeleteGrade 6 and 8 Grads? that seems so far away....have a terrific summer together
DeleteThis was DS4 last day of JK too. He was super sad, but we plan on having tons of play dates with his class mates this Summer and we`ll be having his three cousins over for the next two weeks so we`re going to hit up the splash pad.
ReplyDeleteThis year went by way too fast, he`s going to miss his teacher a lot and was pretty sad he might not have her again next year.
we are lucky, the two teachers (english and french) are staying the same..... thanks for visiting
Deleteno problem - I hope you have fun making your list and crossing things off as you go - as I mentioned though, I can't take credit for the ideas as I saw it on another blog!
ReplyDeleteAwww, I love how little kids love school so much! My 4 year old is excited to start JK in Sept! We have a bunch of stuff planned for this summer! We actually rented a cottage up north and can't wait to go for the week!
ReplyDeleteit is awesome to see their excitement around learning...I know it will probably fade soon.
DeleteHave a great time at the cottage - and thanks for stopping by!
