Julien loves to kick around the soccer ball. I was worried that he wouldn't enjoy actually PLAYING soccer, so I didn't want to sign him up in a league. I found a 5week program through our city recreation department, and today was his first day.
waiting for his class to start
waiting for the other kids to arrive
He had an absolute blast! He was so excited to go play soccer, and he ran right on the field!
oh 5 weeks sounds like the perfect length for an introduction to soccer. Once DS is old enough I think we will sign him up for soccer as well. Hockey arenas are too cold for this mama!
so true - I didn't want to spend the money on a league if he ended up not liking it - this was much more cost effective for us and now that we know, next year we will enroll him in a league
Trace wants to play soccer, even though we are a bit afraid b/c of his CP and legs hurting, we are signing him up. Your little guy looked like he had fun which is always great for moms and dads to watch! Thanks for sharing :)
My eldest plays soccer and loves it. It's a great sport to socialize and learn team work. She started off in the community centres and now plays competitively but, in her own pace. She'll take a season off if she wants. I don't like to pressure her.
That's awesome. I felt the same way with my four year old son, but through our Recreation department in our town their 8 week program teaches them the skills and tricks and he loves it. I'm glad you're little one is loving it!

ReplyDeleteIt seemed like the best way to introduce him to the sport - although I do want him to play hockey too....
DeleteGreat exercise for the kids! Teaches so many other skills as well like team playing etc.. Glad he enjoys it!
ReplyDeleteit was awesome seeing him "learning" the game - he doesn't like to let us teach him how to play, so this was great
DeleteI'm so glad he loves it, it's so difficult to know if they will until we actually try.
