The Key To A Happy Marriage And A Good Nights Sleep

If you live with your significant other, I am sure you can relate to night time battles for the covers. It was a struggle in our house for many years - until a few months ago.  One night, I came up to bed and hubby was completely cocooned in the comforter.  I grabbed another heavy blanket and wrapped it around myself as I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up in the morning, extremely rested and STILL all nestled in my comfy blanket.  I quickly realized that was the secret - separate blankets.  It may not look pretty when the bed is made, but it sure helps for a better sleep at night.

Some people have separate beds for whatever reason, but that's not for us. Our own blankets, however - totally changed our nights!

If you and your SO are under a power struggle for the blankets, try this and let me know how it works out!

  1. I have an extra blanket at the foot of the bed for this very reason. It makes a big difference in how I sleep, because I can just grab it and go back to sleep immediately if I wake up cold.

  3. For us it is separate beds that ultimately worked. Together we are just too restless. Separate beds has worked wonders because we are no longer grumpy from lack of sleep! (Judy Cowan)

    1. raise the head of the bed. most snoring is caused by acid reflux. I sleep with a wedge instead of pillows. Cured my snoring and sleep apnea

  7. This is very common in Europe. The first time, I thought it was weird, but I can see that it has merit! Another thing is that my hubby is always warm and I'm often cold, so having separate blankets with different weights could be could.

  8. My parents say that is the secret to their successful 38 year marriage. This is their 2nd marriage! Separate cover with matching duvet covers. It looks fine and they are happy!

  10. We've been doing this for years now, I love it! It started because he wants a much thinner cover than I do. Two twin size comforters on a king bed fits great, and still looks ok when (if) the bed gets made.

  12. I am always hot and am prone to throwing the blankets off most of the time, so we don't fight over them.Even on the coldest nights I only like to have a light blanket on me.

  13. My hubby and I started doing as well about six months so ago. It happened mostly because age brought me menopause and menopause brought me hot flashes at night. #NotPretty So, I use the sheet and he uses the comforter, lol, but it does make it easier to roll over and get comfy when you don't have to yank the blankie out from under someone's butt!

  15. We went to separate blankets right away lol. I don't like sleeping alone, but sadly my husband works very early and goes to bed early, so prefers to sleep on the basement couch. At least most nights one of our 3 kids has a bad dream and comes to sleep beside me.
