outdoor fun

Yesterday was such a beautiful day, that when Julien woke up from his nap I decided it was time to head outside for a little while.

We got all bundled up in winter gear, and out we went. Julien is such a good little helper - as I was shoveling the snow, he went in the garage and got the smaller shovel, and decided to pitch in:

ETA: please excuse the video quality, it was on my phone!

my new "hobby"

For awhile, I have wanted to make a blanket for Julien......I went online to get a feel for what needed to be done. My mom bought me a sewing machine for Christmas, and yesterday I bought some fabric at Wal-mart, and decided to give it a try.

It is not perfect by any standard, but it's a pretty decent first attempt (with the help of my also non-sewing mother).

Here it is: the top fabric is a sport ball theme (soccer, baseball, basketball and football)

and the bottom is just a plain blue:

winter fun

A few weeks ago Julien and I spent some time playing in the backyard ..... he had fun running around in circles, and trying to "stomp" the snow....such a fun day!

The little things...

I love being a mom....I love the fact that I was able to stay home with Julien for the first 14 months of his life (full time) and I love the fact that our family is fortunate enough for me not to have to go back to work full time.

I miss him terribly on the few days that I do work, but the time I have with him I treasure even more......

Last night for example, I picked him up at 5pm, then we headed to the grocery store.....got home and he spent some time with J while I made dinner.....after dinner he had his bath, J headed to the neighbours to help him move some furniture. After Julien's bath, we played in his bedroom. The entire 30 minutes consisted of taking 11 shower curtain rings and putting them into a bucket, then into a plastic container, and then dumping them out and doing it all over again.

But as simple as it was, he had so much fun......and it reminded me how nice it is to be a mom.
