Great Teachers Help Set The Path For Students #CatholicTeachers

This post is part of the and Ontario's Catholic Teachers #CatholicTeachers sponsored program. I received compensation as a thank you for my participation. This post reflects my personal opinion about the information provided by the sponsors.

When your children are starting school for the first time, it's a big step for both parents and children. As a mother, you worry that your little one is going to be away from you all day, and how someone else could possibly care for them like you can. Having wonderful educators helps to set them up for a positive learning experience, and makes it a little easier for us to let go.

When Mr. K started kindergarten at 4 years old, he was pretty sad. He didn't want to leave me, and didn't understand why I was sending him to school (even though the year before he couldn't wait to go to "big school" like his brother).

We had many tearful mornings as I put him on the bus, but every day when he came home he had a smile on his face. We were so fortunate that his Kindergarten teacher and ECE were so kind, caring and compassionate. These women spent so much of his life with him (and the other students in his class), and he always had great stories to share with me.

He especially loved when they would have forest school (they would explore the small wooded area behind the school and learn about nature, animal habitats and the environment around them). There was so much wonderful learning about the outdoor world and how we need to take care of it so that it can thrive.

Choosing the school that your children will attend is not always easy. There are lots of factors to consider when making the choice. Location, language, faith and more. For us, there wasn’t really a question. We are a Catholic family, and we wanted them to have a Catholic education - just like we did. We wanted them to learn in an environment that would reinforce the values we are trying to instill in them.

The school they attend has an active social justice club as well as an eco-team. These clubs bring different initiatives forward and have the students participate. The kids have come home from school many times wanting us to do certain things at home like they have done in school.

There is much more to education than simply learning the basic subjects. There are many values and other lessons we learn from our teachers. Catholic teachers deliver lessons for life.

These two educators Mr. K had for his two years of kindergarten did such a fantastic job of ensuring a positive start to his educational journey. It really helped to solidify why we chose the Catholic school board.

  1. I love my sons Catholic school. I had an amazingly positive experience and they are loving every moment. Teachers make such a huge impact on their lives and I am happy with the ones they've had!

  2. I will always be grateful for teachers who really knew and cared about me (and am grateful for those who do that for my girls- they have a big influence on our lives!)

  3. Teachers have such an important influence on our children's lives and it is critical that the influence is positive.

  4. I found the choice for Catholic School was obvious. I was so worried about my little ones. We made the correct choice. Very happy.

  5. My one girl does public school and my other daughter - my oldest goes to Catholic high school. We laboured over that choice and which high school to send her to. Let me tell you the difference is dramatic! So supportive and caring and helpful at Catholic high school. This has not always been the case in the public system. I am a fan of the Catholic board and schools and the teachers too.
