DIY Fruit and Veggie Garden
Last year I decided I wanted to grow some of my own food. Tomatoes and Strawberries is what I started with. I didn't have a garden, so I used some containers and kept them on our deck.
This year, I convinced hubby that he needed to build me a garden. I started some strawberries and watermelon in the house in the spring, and bought some tomatoes at the garden center last week.
When hubby was picking up the supplies for the garden, he also bought 2 more tomato plants and 2 more strawberry plants.
He and Mr. K came home and got to work building the garden beside our deck. The watermelon has started to flower, and some of the tomatoes have started to grow as well. I cannot wait until everything is ripe and we can enjoy the food!
Do you garden? What is your favourite thing to grow?

Gardens are so wonderful. I planted one with my grandkids and they go out to the garden every day to see if anything has grown. They are so amazed by the progress of the plants.

DeleteI have a flower garden now (I live on first floor of apt.), and it is so pretty. But back in the day when my kids were alot younger, we lived in a trailer home, and the farmer (also my landlord) gave me a "chunk" of his garden, in which I planted, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, beans, peas, green peppers and onions. Everything grew so good, my daughters had a great time helping out. I really enjoyed it!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. My 4 year old son has helped me with both of our gardens (flowers and veggie). He is such an awesome helper!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great helper you seem to have!
ReplyDeleteI love gardening but we have deer that come onto our acreage so I stick to just flowers (have figured out which deer do not like) and just get our veggies from farmer's market.

ReplyDeleteHaving your own garden is great if you have a little one. My little guy loves digging and picking the veggies when they are grown. He also loves eating it because he 'made' them.
