Elf On The Shelf

Meet Zolly; a magical little elf that made her way into our home last year.  She stays still in the location she chooses while the kids are awake, and at night she heads back to the North Pole to inform Santa whether or not Mr. J and Mr. K have been behaving or not.  She arrives back just before they wake and is in a new place for them to find.

A few years ago I heard about an Elf on the Shelf. I had no idea really what it was, but it was filling my facebook and twitter feeds with hiding places and adventures.

Last year, one showed up at our house.  The kids seemed to love it and named our elf Zolly.  Zolly wasn't a mischievous elf, however she did like to hide and sometimes it would take the boys hours to find her.

When we were decorating the tree on the weekend, Mr. J asked if she would be back, we haven't seen her yet, but I have a feeling it won't be long before she finds her way into our house again.

What about you? Do you have an Elf on the Shelf? Do you like them or hate them?  I will admit, the first time I heard about it I wasn't too thrilled with the idea -  but it grew on me.

  1. I have never heard of an Elf on the Shelf before....I can see why kids would find him fun and be excited to have one. It's part of the magic of Christmas and he adds to it. Thanks for sharing.

  5. We don't have one. If heard people rave about it and others seem to really dislike the idea. I think it's a cute idea but if one came to our house, he would probably be lazy and forget to move during the night and disappoint the kids!
