Littlest mans birthday party - Lightning Mcqueen

Today was Kyle's birthday party - he is turning 2 next week! He loves Lightning McQueen, so I made a McQueen cake and had some other McQueen party supplies on hand. Very simple, fruit and veggie trays and cake.

The kids played outside on the play structure and the water table and seemed to have a lot of fun (tired out too!)

  5. Curious how you got the car structure to hold up like that? Is it cake inside there too? If so, how'd you get the shape so perfect?

    1. I used a 9*13 as the base (the grey cake) and then I also baked an 11*7 and used that to carve out the shape of the car. If it was lengthwise, I cut off 1/3 and used that long piece to make the roof, spoiler and headlights. Then I attached them using frosting, froze the cake and then when I was piping I built up the areas I needed to.

I googled "lightning mcqueen 3d cake" and it came up with a gazillion ideas. There is a 3d cruiser pan you can buy from wilton, which would have been my next step if this hadn't turned out
