Summer Fun With PlaSmart #BloggersFete

PlaSmart is a Canadian company that focuses on toys and games for the family.  They have a wide range of products and you are sure to find something for everyone.  Back for another year as a #BloggersFete sponsor, I am happy to introduce you to 3 of their products which we recently received.

Kick Flipper  - similar to a skateboard, but without the wheels.  My 5 year old is obsessed with trying out tricks on the kick flipper.

He doesn't have the coordination for a skateboard just yet, so he likes that he can practice some of the same tricks as his brother.

The recommended age is 5 and up, and I would say that is perfect. Mr. J (9) much preferred his actual skateboard.

Drop Shot  is fun to play. It's different than most family games we have played before, and it reminds me of Plinko from The Price is Right.  The kids really enjoy playing this one with me, and there is always lots of laughs when they drop the ball.

Squashed! is a neat game to play with the kids. It's another one that is very different than any of the games we have played before, and Mr. J really likes it. Mr. K gets frustrated because he doesn't want anyone else to "squash" him. He also finds it a little difficult to squash, and needs some assistance doing so.

Are you interested in winning a kick flipper or Squashed? Be sure to follow along with the hashtag #BloggersFete over the next 10 days for your chance.  PlaSmart is sponsoring both the Twitter party and Facebook party with a prize at each event.

We Are Now Delving Into The World Of Orthodontics

We have known since Mr. J's first dental visit (just before 2) that he was going to need orthodontic work.  The dentist took one look at his mouth, and told me to start saving.  He has a small jaw, and with only his baby teeth there was lots of crowding.

A few months ago at a routine check up, the dentist said it was time to see an orthodontist.  She made the referral and we had our appointment.  After x-rays, the orthodontist recommended a Rapid Palate Expander instead of extractions. (Mr. J wouldn't let me take a photo, but if you go to the link it will show you)

Rainy Day Fun With Hasbro (Board Games Galore and Toys Too) #BloggersFete

We recently had a shipment arrive from Hasbro, one of the #BloggersFete sponsors.  The boys were so excited when we opened it and they found the Nerf Modulus Tri-Strike, Blazing Team Echostrike FX and Twister.  The Rescue Bots Griffin Rock Firehouse Headquarters was delayed, but has arrived! We also received a box filled with Battleship, Clue, Connect 4 and Jenga.

Summer Bucket List Week 3 Update

A few weeks ago the kids and I sat down to create our summer bucket list. It's something we do each year, and while we know that we may not cross everything off our list, it just gives us some ideas of what we want to do with their time off school.

#BloggersFete Twitter Party and Facebook Party RSVP

BloggersFete2016 starts next Monday and I'm so excited! Bonnie, Suzanne, Margarita, Ladena, Tara and I have been busy on Facebook and email planning this event for months now. Mommy's Little Workers

We had some time last week where the kids were bickering like crazy. It was really getting on my nerves, so I decided to put them to work.  I gave them each a job to do (that I had been putting off for quite a while).

Our Brookstreet Hotel Family Staycation

Summer vacation is now upon us, and we wanted to do something fun with the kids.  We aren't able to go away on a week long vacation at the moment, but we wanted a quick getaway.  The Brookstreet Hotels B Family Package is just what we were looking for.

A chance to have a night away in a hotel, the kids eat dinner free at Perspectives restaurant.  Access to both the indoor and outdoor salt-water pools (with the weather we have right now, this is perfect), 4 passes to play mini-golf at Blackbird falls, re-usable water bottles that are free to fill at both onsite restaurants, tokens for the arcade and cookies and milk before bed (what kid wouldn't LOVE that!)

The kids have been with us to the Brookstreet once before, and have been asking ever since to go back.  We decided that we were going to surprise them.  We packed our overnight bags and loaded them in the truck without the kids knowing and then we headed out.  We told them we were going for an early dinner, but nothing else.
Lovely king size bed for the four of us

Happy 9th Birthday Mr. J

Mr. J then and now
As I sit here typing this, I can hardly believe that Mr. J is 9 years old.  It seems like just yesterday I was told I needed to be induced, and welcomed my little boy into my arms.  My little Independence Day baby (even though we are Canadian). The first 2 weeks of his life had a whole whirlwind of emotions with them as he spent that time in the NICU. A whole lot has happened in his 9 years of life, and I am so thankful that I get to be this little boys mother.

We celebrated yesterday with his friends at a local trampoline park, they had a great time jumping, flipping, and playing dodge ball!

He requested a skateboard cake for his party, so after some major pinterest surfing, he found a few ideas to put together to make a cake

To continue the tradition I started on his first birthday, I woke up at 3:16am (the time he was born) to give him a kiss and quietly wish him a happy birthday. I will continue this tradition until he moves out on his own.

Free and Low Cost Things To Do With The Kids This Summer

While I love having the kids home for summer vacation, there are times where I need to get them out of the house to DO something. They get rangy being together so much without a break. I have put together a list of things to do/ places to visit that are free or low cost.
