Since I am on a huge saving money kick - I thought I would share some more tips - read on to find out how YOU can start saving on your bill!
- make a list, and stick to it *I very rarely stray from my list, unless I find an un-advertised sale that is REALLY good (like paper towels for less than $5.00, or Peanut Butter for WAY cheaper)
- shop the outside aisles (produce, bakery and meat) the pre-packaged foods are in the center and can really make your total add up - plus they are a lot more appealing for impulse buys
- get to know the layout of your grocery store - this way you will know exactly where your items are, and avoid walking aimlessly through aisles with treats calling out your name
and, my last tip for the day
- buy generic (store) brand whenever possible. It will save you tons of money, and often times there is very little taste difference *I don't ALWAYS buy store brand, but for the majority of items (never paper products, find they just are not as durable; and we are a kraft peanut butter family) but for salad dressings, pasta, sauces and rice etc, there isn't much of a difference.
I hope your enjoying my money saving tips - check back next Monday for more - and feel free to leave your tips in the comments!
Those are great tips!
ReplyDeleteHi! Stopping by from MBC.
Have a nice day!
What is MBC?
DeleteNot sure - wondering that over here too
DeleteGreat tips!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
thanks for visiting
DeleteI thought I would never buy store brand ketchup, but kids are ketchup junkies and we go through it so fast we stopped buying brand name unless it's a really good sale, then we stock up! lol
ReplyDeletesame here - I actually don't notice a HUGE difference. But, if there is a sale on heinz then I will also stock up
DeleteI buy generic paper products. lol! But, I agree always Kraft - and I am dying for peanut butter to come on sale. Peanut Butter is over $7 at our local store. crazy!
ReplyDeletewalmart has a sale right now - the 500g jar is $2.00 - even if you buy a few it is cheaper than buying the large one
DeleteYes, we like generic brands too!
ReplyDeleteI also have to make sure that I'm not hungry when I go shopping! LOL!
that's a killer - I have gotten really good at telling my children NO to buying extra things. Every now and then I will let my oldest pick out a brand of cereal we don't normally buy - and that saves the constant "can we have this" all through the store. I also bring a snack for them since they always seem to get hungry while we are shopping
DeleteGreat tips. I suck at following the list. lol.
ReplyDeleteI, too, suck at following the list (like Lisa Marie, above). But, I agree that some generic brands are good. I just bought No Name compost bags (for the under-the-sink compost bin) and they are better than the GLAD ones! Nice tips, thanks!
