cleaning out the car

I have a horrible habit - which involves leaving everything in my car (well, not my children! they come with me). But I find that I get the mail ,and the junk mail stays in the car. The kids have a snack, and the container/wrapper (and crumbs) stay in the car.

I grew up with a father that drove a messy car, and my brother and I both swore that our cars would be clean when we had our own.......well, we both lied. We both generally have horribly messy cars.

Today, that changed.

My oldest is home sick, and the youngest is at Grandma's. So, once I completed the work I needed to get done, we set out with a garbage bag and vacuum.  I had Julien empty everything out of the backseat onto the laneway, and I worked on the front.

We then filled the garbage bag with all the garbage and the rest of the toys/books/shoes and socks made their way into the garage.....then I got the vacuum ready and I am now proud to say that I have a pretty clean car!

I can't say how long it will stay that way - but I am really happy about it for now at least!

  4. I sympathize. I think my car might only be getting clean because I'm finally getting rid of it!

  5. I have the same issue. I can keep my house fairly clean when it's not midterm season, but my car is a disaster. I clean it up, and bam! A week later it's a mess again.

    1. hmm, my house - well, it was clean before kids...I am sure in a few years when they don't follow behind me messing up what I have just done, it will be clean again

  6. It has become a family thing for us to clean our car every weekend. I am very particular in making my kids understand how important it is to keep the car clean. But there were times when they couldn’t resist scattering tiny bits of litter inside the car. This kind made me put a tiny garbage can inside the car. Hehe.

  7. my husband uses our van for work despite that he has a work van. I swear he's worse then a kid, always spilling coffee, wrappers on the floor and goodness only knows. I hate it!
